Thinkpad T460s freezing on lid close

Yrjan Skrimstad
A small heads-up. There seems to be a problem with the Thinkpad T460s
freezing on lid close. This only happens when running on battery, when
running on AC it will not freeze. I believe it to be ACPI-related as it
stops happening when I boot with "acpi=off" as a kernel parameter. All
this is happening with latest mainline kernel and all other kernels I
have tried.

I have posted a bug report,
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113551, that might be of
interest to any other T460s users.

I have tested a bit to see if I can find a workaround other than
suspending by way of "systemctl suspend" before closing the lid, but I
have yet to find one.

It might help to says on which linux kernels you tested (I assume the Debian
sid 4.4 but did you try the 4.5 experimental ones, and current mainline rcs?)

I have tried on Debian's 4.3 and 4.4 kernels and I am currently running
on the current mainline kernel (4.5-rc6). I have not yet tried any
other 4.5 kernels, though I'll happily do if anyone happens to have any
suggestions.

Small update for anyone else experiencing this issue. Using
"intel_pstate=no_hwp" as a kernel parameter seems to stop it from
crashing.
